Introduction
This post is all about my latest journey hmmm but one of the mooooost painful experience I had on my travel. Painful because heavy traffic, heavy traffic because Last day of Ganesh nimajjan [A traditional way of saying bye bye to god Ganesh after 9days with respect to Ganesh chaturdhi]. lets get into details
What More...
a. Nagarjun Sagar Dam
Its nearly 150 KM away from Hyderabad. Bike lovers will definitely love the journey with 3-4 hrs of journey. We can have a great view of DAM when all the gates are opened. There are 26 gates. Opening gates depend on the inflow which is based on out flow of Srisailam Dam. Extremely terrific view and experience one can have.
b. Boating
Its near to the DAM don't have any cost info as of now. I think it would be fun when the water levels are high. As I didn't have real experience on this, but it takes 1 HR boat ride and will reach one Iceland where one visit a museum which will take 1HR and com back. Roughly it will take 3-4 hrs trip. One must have per-plan for food and water. A boat starts at 12PM.
c. Ettipotala Waterfalls View
Ettipotala waterfalls is about 30 KM from Sagar. Its a very good view. Those roaring sounds when the water falls from such height. This waterfalls are well know to be the pond of crocodiles. Nothing much to spend here, just have a look from top and take some snaps and return. Cost would be Rs. 20 for adults and Rs. 15 for children.
d. Ettipotala Waterfalls Time Spending Location
After coming out of the view spot one needs to get down 150-200 steps down where one have spend on water for 2-3 hrs completely. Be careful as its a pond of crocodile but don't worry just be cautious don't go deep into. Slippery rocks and jungle environment will be welcoming you, but not a dangerous place. No Cost if one is not cautious enough then it will cost your life.
Story
Nagarjuna Sagar, located at a distance of 150 km from Hyderabad, is one of the most prominent Buddhist centers and attractive tourist spots in Andhra Pradesh. Nagarjuna dam, which was completed in 1966, is 124 metres high and 1 km long has 26 crest gates.
Ethipothala is a mountain stream cascading down the hills from a height of 21.3 meters into a lagoon. This waterfall is a combination of three streams namely Chandravanka Vagu, Nakkala Vagu & Tummala Vagu.
Best Time To visit
Rainy season would be fine to visit. Keep inquiring about the inflow which will help to plan ahead. Its completely depends on the inflow to Sagar. If Ganesh nimajjan and opened gates co-inside then one can experience a huge floating with heavy traffic.
Best Plan
One day is enough, start early in the morning before 6AM. Visit the DAM then have a boating experience and adjust the time so that one should reach Ethipothala waterfalls at least by 3 PM to enjoy the most of it.
